Crime and Accidents
The following items were taken from reports filed with the Detroit Lakes Police department and Becker county Sheriff's Department.
Friday, Feb. 10
At 9:22 a.m. several people were arrested at a residence on he 600 block of West lake drive. A 45-year-old woman was arrested on two outstanding warrants, one from Becker County and one from Otter Tail County. A 50-year-old man was also arrested on a Todd County warrant at Todd County's request.
At 8:03 p.m. a woman reported her purse had been stolen from a vehicle parked on the 900 block of Washington Avenue between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The purse contained $550 cash, credit cards, identification and other items. She said she believed she had had locked the door, but it was found unlocked.
Recent similar incidents have been reported. Police advise motorists not to leave valuables inside vehicles where they can be seen.
At midnight, police received a complaint about the horn on a Canadian Pacific Railway locomotive apparently stuck and blaring in Detroit Lakes. Railroad employees fixed the problem.
Saturday, Feb. 11
At 3:49 p.m. a man reported that he had been driving westbound on Highway 10 when a white Cadillac nearly sideswiped his vehicle twice. An officer stopped the car and a passenger, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on a Clay County warrant.
Sunday, Feb. 12
At 1:30 a.m. an intoxicated man was found, face-down and bloody, lying on Randolph Road and 11th Avenue. Emergency workers at first thought he had been hit by a car, but he had simply fallen and hurt himself.
At 10:49 a.m. an employee at the Thorwaldsen, Malmstrom and Majors law firm called police after a 40-year-old man refused to leave. An officer found him in the parking lot and warned him not to return or he would be charged with trespassing.
At 2:26 p.m. a loud explosion and loss of power was reported on the 700 block of Andrews Avenue. The DL Public Utilities Department was notified about a possible blown transformer.
At 11:40 p.m. a loud music complaint at Zorbaz was received from the 400 block of West Lake Drive. A police officer determined it to be unfounded.
At 3:22 p.m. a house fire was reported on the 12000 block of Case Road. Detroit Lakes firefighters were on the scene for about an hour, Frazee firefighters were there for 45 minutes.
At 9:09 p.m. a chimney fire was reported on the 32000 block of County Road 143 in White Earth. White Earth firefighters were there for about an hour.
Monday, Feb. 13
At 6:189 p.m. an electrical transformer fire was reported on the 400 block of Willow Street. Detroit Lakes firefighters spent about half an hour at the scene.
Tuesday, Feb. 14
At 3:37 a.m. firefighters from Detroit Lakes and Audubon responded to a wood pile on fire in Lake view Township. The Detroit Lakes team was on the scene for more than two hours.
At 8:09 a.m. a Richwood Township man reported that someone had shot a bull on his property.
