Crisis Center banquet, auctions Saturday in DL
The Lakes Crisis and Resource Center's annual banquet is Saturday, and the list of auction items is looking good.
"Imagine" is the theme for this year's banquet, beginning with social hour at 6 p.m. at the Speak Easy restaurant in Detroit Lakes.
"Imagine a world without violence," Director Jan Logan said as to where the theme came from.
There will be live and silent auctions at the event. Some of the live auction items include two airplane tickets to Las Vegas, a bow-hunting trip to Kentucky, a bird-hunting trip to Kentucky, a sculpture by local artist Pat Shannon and WE Fest tickets.
Some of the silent auction items include golf packages, Twins tickets, Medora musical tickets, Papa Murphy's pizza for a year and much more.
Tim Sparks will serve as entertainment for the evening, and Kathy Coyle will emcee the event.
The money will go toward hiring a child services manager and adding a child services program. The organization has been without a child advocacy program for several years.
Besides raising money for the Crisis Center, the group will be formally thanking "numerous individuals and a business who have supported the Crisis Center over the year," Logan said.
Placemats at the dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., are laminated posters made by local children.
