The pageant will kick off a weekend's worth of festivities at the 2010 Becker County Fair, which runs Wednesday through Saturday, July 28-31, at the Becker County Fairgrounds in Detroit Lakes.

This year, reigning queens Miss Kaylee Cieluch and Junior Miss Emily Freeh decided on a "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" theme, which will be reflected in the music and decorations for Wednesday evening's pageant, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand.

Five young women will vie for the Miss Becker County Fair title, including Heather Pearson, 17, of Lake Park; Typhanie Schafer, 17, of Audubon; Annie Erickson, 17, of Waubun; Kathrine Cork, 18, of Frazee; and Katie Winter, 17, of Frazee.

Junior Miss competitors will include Annie Holzgrove, 14, of Detroit Lakes; Alex Bigger, 14, of Frazee; Megan Fairbanks, 14, of Ogema; Elizabeth Steger, 14, of Rochert; and Chelsie Sanders, 15, of Frazee.

The winning contestants and their runners-up will don crowns and preside over the weekend's events, representing Becker County as only its royalty can. Over the next year, the girls will continue their queenly duties at parades and pageants around the area.

Winners will also be chosen for each category (talent, interview, evening gown), and will receive cash prizes from $25-50 donated by local businesses.
