The Detroit Lakes Middle School bands perform their Winter Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 in the George Simson middle school auditorium. The public is invited and there is no admission.

The Lake Park-Audubon High School music department presents the Senior High Choir, Junior High Choir, Raider Jazz Band, Pop Group and favorite soloist at its 2009 Pops Concert, "Everybody have Fun Tonight," at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 in the LP-A High School gymnasium, Lake Park. On the 50th anniversary of "The Day the Music Died," an 8 p.m. concert will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3 in the Fargo Theatre to pay tribute to the music of two of music's greatest legends. "I Remember Buddy Holly & Roy Orbison" features the original Shadows (of Bobby Vee & The Shadows) along with Lewis Ronken as Buddy Holly and Wayne Luchou as Roy Orbison. Come into the Detroit Lakes Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 and learn how to surf the World Wide Web. During the session, participants will learn how to access Web sites and navigate a Web page as well as search for and evaluate information found on the Internet. The Talvi Juhla Winter Celebration will be held at the farm of Bob and Ingrid Sonnenberg of New York Mills on Saturday, Feb. 7, with a hot lunch at noon and a sustainable forestry practices demonstration by Mr. Sonnenberg at 1:30 p.m. There will also be skiing, snow shoeing and sledding, so bring your equipment along. The band "Brian Wicklund and his Fiddle Pals" will play old time and bluegrass music at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7. This is a special Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association concert sponsored by Whistle Stop Bed and Breakfast.

Indulge your senses with a delicious evening of "Musical Hors D'Oeuvres," featuring musicians from the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. From now through Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, the gallery at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center will be filled with a Fiber Arts Show, including an eclectic mix of quilts, rugs, felt sculptures and baskets. Quilts made by local community residents and many items drawn from private collections make up the collection. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no admission charge.
