Former Detroit Lakes resident Dawn M. Mattson, 48, of Lake Park, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20 at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in Lund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.
Dawn Michelle Mattson was born to Charles and Sharon (Bartnes) Johnson on March 25, 1963 in Detroit Lakes. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1981. Dawn was united in marriage to Roger Stumbo in Sisseton, S.D., in 1980. They moved to Hitterdal.
Following their divorce, Dawn moved to Lake Park. She married Donnie Mattson in Lake Park in 1993. They divorced and in 1999 she moved to Detroit Lakes, where among other jobs, she managed the American Legion Club. She had recently begun working for Baer Farms in rural Lake Park.
Dawn enjoyed her grandchildren, golf and helping others. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion Honor Guard.
Surviving Dawn are her son, Robbie Stumbo of Detroit Lakes; daughter, Nicole (Dustin Hildenbrand) Stumbo of Detroit Lakes; her mother and stepfather: Sharon and LeRoy Dietz of Detroit Lakes; as well as two sisters, Stacie Swenson of Detroit Lakes and Leigh Ann (James) Cossette of Lake Park.
Preceding her in death were her father and one brother, Charles Johnson.
