ST. PAUL — Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton plans surgery on a hip that has been giving him trouble for months.

The governor announced Tuesday that the surgery will be Feb. 6 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It is expected to take about an hour, and he will wear a brace for up to three months.

He underwent an earlier procedure, short of surgery, but it did not fix the problem that began when he slipped on his stairway.
