Dean M. Olson, 60, of Lake Park, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at his home.

Dean was born to Ardean and Eleen (Rosman) Olson on May 6, 1952 in Detroit Lakes. He grew up and attended school in Lake Park, graduating from Lake Park High School in 1970. He then attended Moorhead Technical College and received a degree in electronics. Both during and after high school he worked for his dad as a heavy equipment operator.

On August 4, 1973 he married Benita Pollock in Ulen. Dean then worked for Cenex and American Crystal Sugar before settling into his career as director of television services at Concordia College in 1979. Dean worked for Concordia until his retirement in March of 2012.

Dean enjoyed electronics, photography, airplanes, air shows and spending time playing with his grandchildren. His positive outlook and humor will be greatly missed.

Surviving Dean are his wife Benita of Lake Park; daughter, Julie (Jeff) Ueland of Bemidji; two grandchildren, Marley and Simone Ueland; mother, Eleen Olson of Lake Park; three brothers, Danny (Leslie) Olson of Lake Park, Dale (Elizabeth) Olson of Lake Park and Darwin Olson of Lake Park; sister, Diane (Dennis) Ellwanger of Moorhead; sister-in-law, Peggy Olson; uncle, Daryle “Ole” (Darlene) Olson of Detroit Lakes; aunt, Eleanor (Dixi) Jacobs of Lake Park; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Ardean, and brother, Dennis.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at Cormorant Lutheran Church, Lake Park.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 in Cormorant Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with interment in the church cemetery.
