DeAnn Helgeson

DeAnn E. Helgeson, 37, of Jamestown, N.D., died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at her home in Jamestown, following her couragious battle with cancer.

DeAnn Elaine Helgeson was born the daughter of Robert Helgeson and Janice (Watland) Helgeson on Sept. 12, 1971 at Peoria, Ill. In 1975 she moved with her parents to Jamestown. She attended the local public schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1990. She attended Jamestown College and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing.

DeAnn worked at the Jamestown Hospital as a registered nurse until 2007, when she had to quit due to ill health. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing softball, fishing and going camping.

Surviving DeAnn are her companion, Jeff Metz of Jamestown; her son, Jordan Helgeson-Metz of Jamestown; her parents, Robert and Janice Helgeson of Maddock, N.D.; four brothers and one sister, Lonnie (Marianne) Helgeson of Montgomery, Minn., Lorri (Don Reiter Jr.) Helgeson of Michigan, N.D., Randy Helgeson of East Grand Forks, Ron Helgeson and her twin brother, Dan Helgeson, both of New Prague, Minn.; as well as eight special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Interment was made in the St. Olaf Church Cemetery at Minnewauken, N.D.
