Deer River man sentenced for stabbing murder, assault
BEMIDJI - Darrek Jerome Porter, 18, of Deer River was sentenced Monday in Itasca County District Court for one count of felony second-degree murder and three counts of felony second-degree assault, according to a press release from the Itasca County Attorney Office.
Porter was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Porter stabbed to death Terrell Lee Wilson, 17, of Ball Club, Minn., and assaulting with a knife three other males on Jan. 11.
Porter was 17 when he was charged Jan. 13 in Itasca County Juvenile Court with two counts of felony second-degree murder and three counts of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon against three other males.
He was certified as an adult April 25.
