The Lakers committed six errors in the first game -- which led to a 15-4 loss.

Junior Callea Butz took the loss on an evening in which she was uncharacteristically wild.

"Give Park Rapids credit they hit well, but Callea was unusually wild," said head coach Phil Kirchner. "It was an off night for her and the rest of the team."

Park Rapids scored the first run of the game in the third inning on a pass ball and tacked three more on in the inning.

Jalen Even led off the bottom half of the frame for the Lakers with a base hit that was followed up by a Donna Wicker single.

Senior center fielder Sarah Wilson found that gap for a one out double to score the base runners.

The next inning would have the same result as the Panthers add three more runs to their lead making it 7-4 going to the bottom half of the inning.

Amalea Branden smacked a one out double that led the Lakers to another inning with two runs -- unfortunately, for the Lakers, that would be all for them.

The Panthers offense exploded in the fifth and sixth innings as they added eight more runs pushing their lead to 15-4.

"We weren't ready to play," said Kirchner. "We hit well but we just didn't capitalize.

Pitching the second game for the Lakers was junior Cady Cartmell who walked just two Panthers but it wasn't enough as the Lakers committed another four errors.

"Cady (Cartmell) pitched well the second game," said Kirchner. "We played better but we still mentally were sloppy."

The Panthers scored one run in the first inning on a Leeza Tostenson double that scored senior Morgan Kelly.

The scored remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when the Panthers tacked on two more runs.

The seventh inning had the same result as the Panthers added two more to push their lead to 5-0.

With last one last effort the Lakers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh but it wasn't enough as they fell 5-2.

The Lakers (3-4) with take on the Cardinals of Staples-Motley Tuesday evening.
