Delores Elaine (Madson) Johnson, 78, of Roseville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at home with her family.
She was born to Agnes and Thomas Madson on September 29, 1934, on their farm near Audubon. She grew up active in 4-H and was a drummer in the high school marching band in Lake Park. She studied at North Dakota State University in Fargo, earned a BS degree in home economics from the University of Minnesota, and was a home agent in Carver County, Minn.
Delores was a devoted mother and wife, and loved to travel. She was an accomplished seam-stress, weaver, crafts teacher, square dancer and singer in the many places she lived, includ-ing the Twin Cities in Minnesota, northern Vir-ginia, Maywood, N.J., Oberlin, Ohio, Lund, Sweden and Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother J. Donald Madson (Alice); son Steven John-son; and sister-in-law Yvonne Madson.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Her-bert (Ted); daughter Kirsten Johnson of Woodbury; son Eric (Sherry) and granddaugh-ter Rachel of Atlanta; sis-ters, Lucille Kaiser and Beverly Wilson of Detroit Lakes; brother, Charles Madson of Forest Lake, Minn.; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and neph-ews.
She was also a host mother to 16 internation-al high school and college students, an honorary member of North Atlanta Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 13 at St. Paul Reformation Lutheran Church in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
