Oct. 19, 1927-Nov. 13, 2009
Former Detroit Lakes resident Delores "Dee" June Leasure, 82, of North Mankato, Minn., died peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living, North Mankato.
Dee was born to Joseph and Pearl (Brown) Leitheiser on October 19, 1927 in Detroit Lakes. She attended country school in Lakeview Township and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1946.
Dee married Donald Leasure on August 20, 1946 in Detroit Lakes. In 1955, they moved with their two young daughters to Luverne, Minn., where Dee managed a Montgomery Ward Store. She was active in the Jaycees and her bridge club. Later they moved to St. Peter, where she worked as an insurance and benefits manager for Kato Engineering Company. She retired in 1982.
Dee and Don returned to the Detroit Lakes area after retiring, and made their home on Big Cormorant Lake. They spent several years enjoying fishing, golf, snowmobiling and entertaining family at the lake. Dee was always thankful for the years they had together before Don passed away in 1996.
Dee also enjoyed the times spent with her sister, Lucy, raking leaves in the fall and having long phone conversations. She moved back to the Mankato area in 2002, to be closer to her daughters.
Dee has lived the past few years at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato. She will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her sense of humor and her gentle manner. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving Dee are her two daughters, Sandra (Tim) Bloomquist of Cambridge, Minn.; Sherri (Mike) Mayo of St. Peter, Minn.; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Olson of Detroit Lakes; sister-in-law, Verna Leitheiser of Detroit Lakes; brother-in-law, Duane Leasure of Minneapolis; numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and the loving care givers at Oak Terrace.
