Delores "Lolly" M. Onstad, 80, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Lolly was born the daughter of Oscar and Alma (Lunde) Peterson on January 27, 1932 in Erskine, Minn. She graduated from Erskine High School in 1949.

Lolly was united in marriage to Donald Onstad on March 31, 1951 in Fridley, Minn. They made their home in Minneapolis, until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1970. Together, they owned and operated the Broken Wheel Supper Club for a few years before starting Lakes Motors.

Lolly also worked as a real estate agent for many years in the Detroit Lakes area. Additionally she helped her husband, Don with their car dealership, until they retired in 1998.

Lolly was a master in the kitchen; whether it was a new recipe or an old one, she always made sure it was made to everyone's liking. It was her great joy to create a delicious meal and to have everyone come and enjoy it. She also loved to garden and to spend time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving Lolly are her husband of 60 years, Don Onstad of Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Deborah Wood of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Susan (Patrick) Samuelson of Norwood/Young America, Minn.; one son, P.K. (Sandra) Onstad of Detroit Lakes; six grandchildren, Amanda (Andy) MacDonell, Justin (Ann) Wood, Johanna (Sean Dawson) Samuelson, Nicolette Samuelson, Matthew and Michael Onstad; four great grandchildren, Cydney Wood, Isabella and Jamison Wood, Beau Dawson; one sister, Ardy LeBlanc of Minneapolis,; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Lolly in death were her parents; a brother, Orville Peterson; and a sister, LaVerne Eraker.

Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, March 30 at Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services in the church.
