Delphine Mischke

Delphine M. Mischke, 102, of Windom, Minn., passed away early Friday morning, August 14, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom, where she had been a resident since April 2004.

Delphine Mary Tibodeau was born to the late Joseph and Josephine (Gratton) Tibodeau on Oct. 30, 1906 in Blue Earth, Minn. She was baptized in Blue Earth on Dec. 10, 1906, and later confirmed in Blue Earth. Delphine received her education at country school in the Blue Earth area.

On Sept. 29, 1929, Delphine married Harry R. Mischke in Moorhead. This marriage was blessed with nine children. Through the years, Delphine was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Delphine learned to tat in sixth grade and crocheted afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She made over 50 of them, and was still making them when she passed away. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and bingo.

Surviving Delphine are her seven children, Eleanor Sartwell of Stanfield, Ariz., Marilyn (James) Jordan of Detroit Lakes; Dorothy Horton of Longview, Wash., Gladys (Jerome) Trapp of Mahnomen; Carolyn (Cecil) Simmons of North Mankato; Laurence (Esmi) Mischke of Victorville, Calif., and Henry "Skip" Mischke of Windom; 35 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; 32 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be visitation for Delphine from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom, followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Windom, with the Rev. Charles Quinn officiating.

Casket bearers will be Tom Treichel, Don Nolan, Terry Mischke, Bradley Simmons, Jerry Trapp, Jr., Tony Nichols, Larry Mischke, Jr., and Kerry Jordan.

Honorary bearers will be Willis Nichols, Marlin Zenke, Jim Ertz and all of Delphine's grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens, Windom. Arrangements were entrusted to the LaCanne Family Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at
