Dennis M. Olson, 54, of Lake Park, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Rochester, Minn.

Dennis was born to Ardean and Eleen (Rosman) Olson on May 19, 1958 in Detroit Lakes. While growing up he was active in 4-H, and he lived in rural Lake Park his entire life.

Dennis married Marlys Moe and they had two sons, Scott and Joey. They were later divorced. Dennis married Peggy Nybo on October 10, 1992, and along with her daughter, Katie, they made their home on Rosman Lake.

After graduating from Lake Park High School Dennis worked for his father at Olson Construction. Later, he worked for Nelson Construction in Lake Park for many years and Sellin Brothers in Hawley for the past 15 years. Dennis worked as a blade operator his entire life and had a reputation for being the best in the area. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49.

Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman and was more than happy to share his talents with anyone who wanted to join him. Dennis was a caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandson Nathan and taking him for rides on the tractor. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving Dennis are his wife, Peggy Olson of Lake Park; sons Scott (Katelyn) Olson of Adrian and Joey Olson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; stepdaughter Katie Sandberg and grandson, Nathan of Detroit Lakes; mother Eleen Olson of Lake Park; brothers Dean (Benita) Olson, Danny (Leslie) Olson, Dale (Elizabeth) Olson, and Darwin Olson, all of Lake Park; and sister, Diane (Dennis) Ellwanger of Moorhead. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous friends.

His father, Ardean Olson, preceded him in death.

A memorial gathering is set from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 in Cormorant Lutheran Church, Cormorant.
