Detroit Lakes Aviation offers full FBO services, fuel and repairs
The Detroit Lakes-Becker County Airport is a publicly-owned, public-use airport located two miles west of the central business district of Detroit Lakes.
The airport covers 288 acres and has two runways — a 4,500-foot by 75-foot asphalt surface open year-round and a 1,880-foot by 250-foot turf surface which is closed during winter months.
It is managed by Detroit Lakes Aviation, a full-service FBO, which provides hangar space, maintenance, fuel and rental cars.
It currently maintains light sport aircraft, piston twins, turbo props and jet aircraft.
It offers annual inspections, event or phase inspections, 100 hours prebuy inspections and exports.
In addition, Detroit Lakes Aviation offers avionics, pilot services, pickup and delivery services, and fuel — 24-hour 100 low lead fuel and a full service Jet A fuel with single point are available.
Aircraft sales and float plane service are also offered.
Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, but after-hour and weekend services are available.
Most of the time, an overnight hangar is available with advanced notice.
Local car rental and Enterprise Rental Car services are available, as is a courtesy car. Food is available at a number of restaurants in Detroit Lakes, and several fast food restaurants are within walking distance, as are several big box retail stores.
For the 12-month period ending July 29, 2010, the airport had 16,200 aircraft operations, an average of 44 per day: 84 percent general aviation and 16 percent air taxi.
At that time there were 43 aircraft based at the airport: 36 single-engine and 6 multi-engine and 1 jet.
