The No. 4 seed will give the Lakers (5-19-1) a first-round home game Saturday against either Pequot Lakes or Wadena-Deer Creek/Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, with the time to be determined.

A 3-0-1 record against W-DC/LP-GE (0-14-0) and Pequot Lakes (1-14-0) gave a considerable edge to the Lakers for the No. 4 slot.

The winner from Saturday's game will play probable No. 1-seeded Fergus Falls (11-5-3) Tuesday.

Picking up more goals will be the focus for the Lakers, who have struggled at times with their attack, but have lately been finding the back of the net more.

"More offense needs to happen in the playoffs," said DL head coach Dan Maloney. "We need to get control of the game early Saturday and we have to improve in our ability to score.

"It's an entire new season and a fresh start."

DL senior goalie Winona Goettel has seen steady improvement over the course of the season, with 496 saves and a goals against average of 5.6.

"She's played pretty well through January and the early part of February," Maloney said of Goettel. "She's been able to build some confidence through the season."

The Lakers also have been primarily going with four defensive players, including Ally Nielsen, Emily Raboin, Tiffany Iverson and Alyssa Boyle.

"They've been playing fairly well and all around, I've seen improvement there, too," Maloney said of his defense.

Leading the way in the scoring department has been forward Brin Seebold, who has 24 points, including 16 goals and eight assists.

The Lakers wrapped up their regular season with a 4-0 loss in Lake of the Woods Saturday.

The Bears put the game away with three goals in the third period.

Goettel finished with 31 saves, while LOW's Bryna Hanson had 24.
