Some of the growing pains for the young Detroit Lakes girls' hockey team showed through in its 7-1 season opening loss in Fergus Falls Friday.

The Lakers did play up to the Otters in the first period, trailing only 2-1, but Fergus Falls went on a 5-0 run in the final two periods.

Sophomore forward Emily Seebold scored DL's lone goal, which came 7:54 into the first period, with assists coming from senior defensive player Callie Johnson and freshman Chandra Johnson.
