The Lakers did play up to the Otters in the first period, trailing only 2-1, but Fergus Falls went on a 5-0 run in the final two periods.

Sophomore forward Emily Seebold scored DL's lone goal, which came 7:54 into the first period, with assists coming from senior defensive player Callie Johnson and freshman Chandra Johnson.

But the Otters set the tone early, scoring 26 seconds into the game off of junior defensive player Lauren Norgren's stick.

A two-goal second period put Fergus Falls in control 4-1, and then the Otters finished the game off with three more in the third.

Norgren finished with a season-opening hat trick.

DL sophomore goalie Veronica Badurek had 21 saves, while the Lakers had 18 shots on goal.

Jordie Salwei gained the victory in net for the Otters with 17 saves.

The Lakers will travel to Alexandria Thursday, for a 7:30 p.m. start.
