Detroit Lakes man charged for violating sex offender registration law
Nathaniel Jacob Tanem, 19, of 30376 240th St., Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with violating the state's predatory offender registration law, a felony.
According to court records, he was adjudged delinquent of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2006 and is required to register as a sex offender until Oct. 19, 2016.
On March 18, he submitted a change of address form to authorities indicating a new address in Lake Park.
On Oct. 19, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension sent an address verification letter to the address in Lake Park, which went unanswered.
On Jan. 13 the Lake Park police chief interviewed the landlord, who allegedly said that Tanem had not lived there since September.
Tanem allegedly told a police investigator that he has lived at his current Detroit Lakes address for the last several months.
On Wednesday, District Judge Joe Evans set bail or bond at $50,000 and set his next court appearance for Feb. 8.
