Detroit Lakes man sent to jail on felony DWI charge
Richard Lee Larson, 53, of 26761 Lidstrom Road, Detroit Lakes has been sentenced for felony DWI.
According to court records:
He was arrested Sept. 11 after a deputy, responding to a complaint about an erratic driver on County Road 21, saw him driving a Chevy Lumina with a flat tire and smoke coming from the vehicle. Larson failed field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level tested at .18 percent at the Becker County Jail.
He was previously convicted of DWI in 2002, 2003 and 2006.
He appeared Jan. 22 before District Judge Peter Irvine, who sentenced him to 42 months in prison, execution of sentence stayed seven years.
He was placed on supervised probation and must serve 180 days in jail, consecutive to any unserved jail time. Work release and STS privileges were granted.
He was fined $4,500, with $3,000 of that stayed. He must complete a chemical dependency aftercare program, submit to random drug testing and spend 30 days on electronic home monitoring for each of the seven years he is on probation.
