Detroit Lakes obtains $250,000 grant for industrial park expansion
The City of Detroit Lakes received news from the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development that a $250,000 infrastructure grant has been awarded to the City for an expansion to the Detroit Lakes North Industrial Park.
Detroit Lakes Community Development Director Larry Remmen applied for the competitive grant last fall to secure funding for enlarging the industrial park. The expansion will make affordable industrial sites available for new and expanding businesses in Detroit Lakes.
The project will create nine new lots in the North Industrial Park.
"This is an exciting and much-needed project because there is currently only one lot available in the industrial park," Remmen stated.
Mayor Matt Brenk said the city was very happy to receive this state grant to assist with the industrial park expansion.
The total project cost is estimated to be $900,000 and is expected to lead to the creation of 120 jobs and an increase of $4.3 million to the city's tax base.
