Detroit Lakes started the day by taking on section opponent Thief River Falls.

The Lakers proceeded to lose the match but as stated by head coach Jim Hinson, "The scores certainly revealed our lack of experience."

Connor Hutton of TRF challenged junior captain Jake Hartman in a match that ended 6-2, 6-0 in favor of TRF.

All of the matches which followed continued on that same pattern for the Lakers as they lost the match 7-0.

"TRF is a very good section opponent," said Hinson. "Our guys are both learning and having a ball and we are having honest improvement at every position every day."

Next on the schedule was TRF challenging Alexandria which ended 6-1 for Alexandria.

The Lakers closed the triangular against the Cardinals and mirrored the results from before losing 7-0.

"We changed our line up a bit versus Alexandria," said Hinson. "The score was the same as before, however, we were a bit more competitive over all."

Playing number one singles for Detroit Lakes against the Cardinals was sophomore Jesse Meyer who lost to senior Connor Illies 6-0,6-3.

"The best quality of our team this year and any good team is their attitude," said Hinson. "The guys are like sponges, they're taking it all in with their eyes wide open and looking to the next opportunity.

"The most often asked question today after we lost was, "Hey coach, when's the next practice?" said Hinson. "What a great bunch of dedicated Laker student athletes."

The Lakers fell to Bemidji 7-0 on the DLHS courts Tuesday.
