Detroit Lakes woman Tased by police in Wadena
A Detroit Lakes woman was Tased twice by Wadena police before being taken into custody on drunk driving charges.
Wadena County court documents said Nancy Marie Buchta, 33, was pulled over at 3:25 a.m. on Dec. 20 in Wadena. When asked if she had been drinking, she replied, "Yeah, I've had some but I'm all right to drive back to Detroit Lakes."
After failing field sobriety tests, police asked Buchta to submit to an alcohol breath test, but she refused, court records said. When officers tried to take her into custody, she resisted, according to records, and was told she'd be Tased if she didn't cooperate.
Court records said Buchta was Tased twice before complying.
Buchta is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Feb. 23. She was charged Jan. 20 with second-degree DWI, third-degree DWI, open bottle law and obstructing the legal process.
According to court records, she has a DWI from Jan. 28, 2008.
