Devils Lake man killed in car-truck accident
A 76-year-old Devils Lake man was killed in a car-truck accident Wednesday evening near Devils Lake.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the man was driving a 2010 Buick Lucerne westbound on U.S. Highway 2, about six miles southeast of Devils Lake at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, when it collided with a 1995 Freightliner pulling an empty flatbed trailer.
According to the report, the truck, driven by a 69-year-old man from Forest River, N.D., was crossing Highway 2 from the north to the eastbound lanes at milepost 276.
Upon impact, the Buick traveled toward the median and came to rest against the semi-trailer in the south lane.
The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver was not injured. Names have not been released. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol, which was assisted at the scene by Ramsey County Sheriff's Department and Devils Lake Rural Fire Department.
