Devils Lake woman dies after driver hits two motorcycles
A Devils Lake woman was killed and charges are pending against an Oberon, N.D., woman after her vehicle struck two separate motorcycles Wednesday night in Benson County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Sheri Leidholt, 30, was pronounced dead early Thursday at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, where she was transferred from Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.
The patrol said a 2000 Oldsmobile driven by Faith Mitzel, 92, crossed the center line on state Highway 57 at about 9:35 p.m. two miles north of Fort Totten, N.D., and first struck a 1980 Harley-Davidson driven by Jason Hunter, 33, Devils Lake.
The patrol said Mitzel's vehicle continued south and struck a 2006 Harley-Davidson driven by James Leidholt, 37, Devils Lake. James Leidholt was transferred from Mercy Hospital to Innovis Hospital in Fargo, where he requested no further information be released.
Hunter was transferred to Trinity Hospital in Minot, but no information on his condition was released.
Mitzel was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed, the patrol said. She had no apparent injury but also was transported to Mercy Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
