Dewey memorial slated for Monday
There will be a Public Memorial Service for Deputy Christopher Dewey at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30 in Mahnomen, at the Mahnomen Public School Gymnasium.
This will be an opportunity for both local community members and law enforcement personnel to offer their support to the Dewey family and say goodbye to a loyal public servant.
"The people of Mahnomen County, as well as thousands of others in the area, have been praying for and offering support to Deputy Dewey for nearly 18 months and we are hopeful that this memorial service will help provide some closure," said Kelly Woltjer, Funeral Director at Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home.
Deputy Dewey was shot in the line of duty, while working in Mahnomen County, on February 18, 2009, and died peacefully at home on August 9, 2010, from complication of those injuries.
Arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home of Mahnomen. An online guestbook and memorial tributes can be posted at andersonmattson.com.
