The Lakers (5-9) dropped a pair of road games, losing in Fergus Falls Saturday 5-2 and in Crookston Tuesday 9-0.

In each contest, the Lakers were outshot, while DL sophomore goalie MacKenzie Steele collected 66 saves total.

DL led early against the Otters (8-5-3) on a Ryan DeConcini goal 10:53 into the first period, with senior forward Austin Rusness and Ben Nelson each gaining assists.

But as has been the case this season, the Lakers had to endure a rough stretch of goals, which against the Otters, came in a three-goal second period.

The Otters put together three unanswered goals, starting with a power play tally by Sam Rausch and continuing on scores by each of Lane Rogers and Adam Evenson for the 3-1 advantage.

The Lakers pulled back to within one on Brady Crawford's goal with 1:49 remaining, on assists by Joe Solberg and Dylan Bremseth.

But Fergus Falls controlled the third period by outshooting DL by a 14-4 margin, with Evenson and Rausch (power play) each collecting their second goals of the game.

Crookston started strong Tuesday by putting 23 shots on net, while the Lakers managed just three.

That led to a 5-0 first period lead for the Pirates (8-9), as Brady Heppner scored three and each of Curtis Regan and Justin Cameron one apiece. The Lakers will look to rebound and kickstart their offensive attack Friday, when they host International Falls (7-5-4), starting at 4 p.m.
