DL boys’ tennis gets first game of season in
Mother Nature can’t win every time, as the Detroit Lakes boys’ tennis team found a way to break into the 2013 spring season.
The Lakers traveled to Fargo for an indoor meet against Crookston, but falling 5-2.
The Pirates swept singles play, with Chandler Hanks being the closest to winning by taking Jake Wideseth to three sets, before losing in the third tiebreaker 9-7 in fourth singles action.
The Lakers were strong in doubles play, as Isaac and Alex Fondrick rolled to a pair of 6-0 victories over Jacob Roesch and Nicholoi Broekemeier.
Hunter Hedstrom and Cade Benson also were victors in third doubles competition with a win over Logan Prudhomme and Thomas Cymulak.
If the weather improves, the Lakers will be in action at home against Bemidji Tuesday, starting at 4:30 p.m.
