Fifty-nine dancers from the Detroit Lakes Dance Studio competed in four regional competitions held in Duluth, Minnetonka and Fargo.

The competitions included studios from Minnesota, Wisconsin, South and North Dakota and Canada.

In their team dances, each group brought home some first-place awards in their categories and placed in the top five overall.

The smaller groups, trios, duets, and solos won numerous first-place awards and many placed in the top five out of over 90 routines. Three of our dances recently took sixth, seventh and 10th highest points in over 200 dances.

One of the highlights for the studio was having 18 dancers selected as stand-out dancers.

These dancers are recognized over all the dancers throughout the day and are selected to participate in master classes and a special dance at the National Competition in June with a choreographer brought in from Australia.

In addition to the dancers bringing home awards, owner/instructor Ronita Hackel also brought home two Choreography Awards.

Center Stage will be wrapping up the season with two recitals at the Detroit Lakes Middle School Auditorium this Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door. Summer session will kick off again in June for these hard working dancers.
