DL girls' golf ends with consistency
Consistency has been a virtue for the Detroit Lakes girls' golf team the last few weeks, as they closed out the regular season with a 2010 low score of 329 Tuesday during the DL Invite at the Detroit Country Club.
State-ranked Grand Rapids won the meet with a 322, but the Lakers shaved off one stroke from their season-low from a week ago at the Mid-State Conference meet, also at the DCC.
Grand Rapids' Laura Cahill took medalist honors with a three-over par 74.
The Lakers had two golfers break 80, with eighth grader Matty Tschider stroking a six-over par 77, while sophomore Courtney Hedstrom finished with an eight-over 79.
Eighth grader Trisa Hutchinson remained steady by shooting an 82, while Sydney Busker shot a career-low 91 as DL's fourth and final score.
Capping the Laker scores were Natalie Roth's 92, Emma Thompson's 93 and Ashley Friesen's 96.
The Lakers will start post-season action in the Sub-Section 8-2A meet at Wildflower Thursday, starting at 9 a.m.
The top three teams advance to the Section meet Tuesday, which is at the Longbow Golf Course in Walker.
