The Detroit Lakes girls' hockey team is still in search of its first win of the season, after dropping two in the Fergus Falls Holiday Tournament and losing to visiting Park Rapids Tuesday 4-2.

The Lakers (0-7) ran into a pair of tough teams in Fergus Falls over the weekend, as Henry Sibley won 5-1 Friday and Minneapolis, 8-3 on Saturday.

Erika Hillstrom of Henry Sibley notched a hat trick. DL had a goal in the third period by forward Emily Payne. Henry Sibley pulled away from a 2-0 lead with three goals in the third period on DL goalie Veronica Badurek.

Saturday, Minneapolis wasted little time by pouncing with six goals in the first period, the first two by Maya Lassiter in the first 3:01 of the game.

Katy Fuller added three goals in the victory, while Lizzy Laakso had a pair of tallies, as well.

For the Lakers, Randa Larsen and Hailey Sonstegard each found nylon, with assists going to senior defensive player Callie Johnson and Sonstegard.

Badurek had 27 saves, while Haleigh Wenger had seven.

Kellie Winchell picked up the win between the pipes with 20 saves for Minneapolis.

Tuesday's game against Park Rapids ended in a 4-2 Panther victory, with results not available at press time.

The Lakers will travel to Wadena-Deer Creek Tuesday to face the Blue Devils, who are 2-2 on the season.
