DL goalie Haileigh Wenger recorded the shutout with 13 saves, while seven different Lakers found the net.

Senior forward Callie Johnson scored on back-to-back goals late in the first period and early in the second, while DL surged for five tallies in the second period to break the game open.

Emily Payne started the scoring 11:22 into the game after DL skated to a sluggish start, but after that, the floodgates opened.

After Johnson's two goals put DL up 3-0, Emily Seebold, Hailey Sonstegard, Sydney Haman and Jamie Bollig followed her into the scoring category.

Randa Larsen capped the scoring in the third, as DL was 1-1 on power play opportunities, that coming by Seebold.

Johnson also added three assists in the game.

The Lakers (4-18) will host Pequot Lakes (10-8) Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. start. They will travel to East Grand Forks (14-7-1) Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.

Prowlers jump past Lakers

The visiting Thief River Falls girls' hockey team used a five-goal second period to separate themselves from the host Lakers, en route to an 8-1 victory Monday.

The Prowlers scored the first seven goals and took a 2-0 lead into the second period, where they buried five more scores past DL goalie Veronica Badurek.

The puck was in the Lakers' zone for much of the game, as the Prowlers outshot DL by a wide margin of 54-10.

Each of Sylvia Marolt and Kora Torkelson had two goals, while Madison Poole, Kaylee Eskeli, Emily Bergland and Ava Marolt had the other tallies.

Brandi Malwitz added three assists in the winning effort.

DL's goal was scored by Payne in the third period, with Johnson assisting.
