DL man charged with burglarizing restaurants
A Detroit Lakes man has been charged in Becker County District Court with one felony count of third degree burglary.
Andrew John Dahlsad, 19, of 601 Holmes St. W., Detroit Lakes, is accused of breaking into a Detroit Lakes restaurant during the early morning hours of July 25 and taking the cash from two registers inside.
According to the criminal complaint, a surveillance video showed someone smashing in one of the restaurant’s windows with a crowbar and entering the building, walking over to the two cash registers and removing the contents before leaving.
The owner of the restaurant said the suspect resembled a former employee, Dahlsad, who upon questioning, denied his involvement. The owner later told investigators that he had allegedly texted her and given her cash to repay her for what had been taken in the break-in.
Dahlsad has been released on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance, at an April 8 omnibus hearing.
