DL man in court for DWI after crashing car
A Detroit Lakes man made his first court appearance last week for felony DWI.
According to court reports, 36-year-old Matthew Allen Anderson of 804 Central Street East in Detroit Lakes crashed into the Jackson Storage Units at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Willow Street in Detroit Lakes on Dec. 12.
Police say he appeared to be carrying on a conversation with somebody, but nobody else was in the vehicle.
EMS personnel say Anderson gave them three different accounts of what happened; he then reportedly lowered his voice and said something about the devil.
Police also received a call around that same time of a hit and run near Holy Rosary that matched the description of Anderson’s vehicle.
According to the report, three different kinds of drugs were found in Anderson’s system.
He has three prior DWI’s from 2006, 2010 and 2011.
Anderson was released on his own recognizance with conditions until his next court appearance.
