DL man in court for having handgun, ammo

A Detroit Lakes man made his first appearance Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a felony firearms violation.

Glynn Edward Williams, 25, of 1007 McKinley Ave., Apt. 1, Detroit Lakes, was arrested on an active felony warrant at a Detroit Lakes residence on June 4.

According to the criminal complaint, when he was being taken into custody, a handgun magazine clip was allegedly found in his pocket, and a subsequent search revealed a handgun beneath the mattress of the bed where he had been sleeping prior to his arrest. A loaded magazine clip was also found lying next to the gun.

Williams was prohibited from possessing a firearm as the result of previous felony convictions for third degree assault, first degree aggravated robbery, first degree burglary, third degree drug possession and third degree assault.

Williams is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, at a June 17 Rule 8 hearing. His bail was set at $50,000 with conditions, or $100,000 without conditions.
