DL man gets 21 months, stayed, for selling rocks of crack cocaine
Henry Lee Jenkins, 57, of 505 West Main, Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of fourth-degree controlled substance crime, sale.
An identical felony charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
On Nov. 1, 2006, he sold three rocks of crack cocaine for $130 to a confidential reliable informant for the sheriff's department. They tested at .3 grams of cocaine, according to court records.
Later that day, he sold three more rocks of crack cocaine to the informant for $140. They tested at .8 grams of cocaine.
He pleaded guilty on Jan. 4 and was sentenced Thursday by District Judge Michael Kirk to 21 months in prison, execution of sentence stayed five years. He was placed on supervised probation and ordered to serve 90 days in jail, with credit for 99 days served.
He was fined $1,000 plus court fees.
He will be allowed to be released for volunteer work at the Boys and Girls Club and the Huber fee will be waived while he is volunteering. When he starts being paid in April the fees must be paid, according to court records.
