Arlan Ray Bergstrom Jr., 20, of 424 W. Central Ave., Detroit Lakes, was ordered to serve 12 months and one day in prison, stayed on conditions including completion of a 61-day jail sentence (already served) and up to five years of supervised probation, as well as payment of $1,160 in fines and fees, plus $2,772 in restitution.

Bergstrom was charged after he was allegedly spotted behind the wheel of a vehicle that was one of two vehicles reported stolen from the Lake Park area on June 15.

One of the vehicles was found on fire at the dead end of 70th Street just before 6 p.m. that evening. Shoeprints were found at the scene and photographed; a cell phone and a Walmart bag with a receipt inside were also found at the scene. The receipt was used to track two people who had been in the store that day, one of whom was the defendant.

A witness later identified Bergstrom as the person they saw behind the wheel of the vehicle near the place where it was found; the witness also said they saw a woman come by in another vehicle to pick him up.
