DL man hurt when truck axle falls on him

A Detroit Lakes man was hurt after a truck axle fell on him Wednesday morning, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

Keith Drewes, 48, was working under a gravel truck at a home shop about three miles northeast of Detroit Lakes in Erie Township.

While Drewes was working on an axle, it fell onto his stomach. His brother, Dion, was also at the shop and was able to get to a skid steer quickly and lifted the axle off his brother before rescue crews arrived. Drewes’ injuries are unknown.

He was taken to Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital and was reported to be talking and alert, according to KDLM Radio. However, his condition is unknown. The accident was reported around 11:45 a.m.
