DL man sentenced to jail for fleeing police officer
A Detroit Lakes man was sentenced last week on a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer.
Brandon Joseph Volness, 19, of 730 1st St. N., Fargo, was ordered to serve three years of supervised probation, 45 days in jail and 15 days of electronic home monitoring, plus payment of $1,087 in fines and court fees, as conditions of a stayed prison sentence. The charge was related to a May 31 incident involving a high-speed motorcycle chase on Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes. At times the chase involved speeds in excess of 125 miles per hour.
Volness had numerous prior convictions for speeding as well as exhibition driving and failure to yield right-of-way.
