DL man sentenced for meth
Timothy Joseph Erickson, 20, of 1265 Loring Ave. No. 101, Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime -- possession.
On March 26, 2007, police officers were dispatched to the Erickson residence on a report of a fire. No one was home, but they saw smoke coming from the apartment and entered it. They saw drug paraphernalia throughout the residence, according to court records.
He came home shortly thereafter and consented to a search of the apartment. Police found a small blue vial containing meth in his jacket pocket.
He pleaded guilty March 20 and was sentenced Wednesday by District Judge Peter Irvine, who stayed imposition of sentence for five years. He was placed on supervised probation and ordered to serve three days in jail, with credit for three days served. He was fined $500 plus court fees and ordered to get a chemical use assessment.
