DL man sentenced for violating order
A Detroit Lakes man was sentenced late last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of violating a domestic abuse order for protection.
Jeremy Clayton Block, 38, of 20495 Victor Road, Detroit Lakes, was given a stay of imposition on a possible prison sentence, on conditions including completion of up to five years of supervised probation, 20 days in jail and payment of $1,160 in court fines and fees.
Successful completion of his probation will result in the reduction of the felony charge to a misdemeanor conviction on his record.
Block was accused of making in excess of 100 cell phone calls to a woman with whom he was forbidden contact as the result of a domestic abuse order for protection that was filed on Nov. 5, 2012. The calls were all reportedly placed during a three-day period in November.
