DL native gets grant from ND arts council

Fargo-Detroit Lakes native Carol Anne Hough, recently applied for and was awarded a Professional Development Grant by the North Dakota Council on the Arts.

The grant will provide funds to help Hough attend the 2008 Fringe Festival in Minneapolis, where she will attend plays, work one-to-one with a mentor, and organize a staged reading of her latest play, "The Uptight Swede."

"This is exactly what I need right now," says Hough. "This grant will help me take my career to the next level."

This state funded grant program is designed to benefit artists by providing financial assistance for informational/educational opportunities relating to the arts and arts development. For arts organizations, this program aids in staff/board/volunteer training opportunities or for hiring consultants and technical or artistic directors.

The North Dakota Council on the Arts is the state agency responsible for the support and development of the arts throughout North Dakota, and is funded by the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
