DL pitcher Johnson hurls complete-game shutout
Senior Detroit Lakes pitcher Brock Johnson held the Frazee Hornets at bay with a complete-game, two-hit and nine strikeout performance to help the Lakers to a 4-0 win Tuesday.
Johnson allowed just one runner past second base, while limiting his walks to two and striking out nine.
Brandon VanWaturmulen also had a solid performance on the mound for Frazee, allowing five hits through seven innings.
But five walks hindered VanWaturmulen and the Hornets, as DL wrapped several hits around the bases on balls to notch its four runs.
Joe Thompson put DL on the board with an RBI single to score Danny Engberg, who led the third off with a walk.
Two more runs were scored after two walks by the Frazee pitcher, along with an RBI single by shortstop Connor McLeod.
The Laker senior added his second RBI in the sixth, after Brian Labat drew a one-out walk, to round out the 4-0 score.
Engberg had two hits, while Frazee had singles by Matt Viste and Hayden Hoskins.
DL (2-1) will travel to Thief River Falls Friday, while Frazee will play host to Pelican Rapids Thursday, April 29.
