DL junior pitcher Connor Johnson continued his assault on opposing batters after striking out eight Patriots in game one, while the Lakers picked up 14 hits in the nightcap for the 12-5 win.

Defensively, DL played well, committing just one error in each game.

“We played good defense and it’s something we’ve worked on a lot in practice,” said DL head coach Steve Fuhs. “The guys also hit the ball and put it in play.”

In the 14-hit barrage, the Lakers scored four runs in each of the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Six different Laker batters had two hits apiece, including Ryan Cihak, Johnson, Ben Thompson, Sam Voz, Sam Beck and Cooper Heimark.

Thompson added three RBIs, while Johnson had two, which came off a homerun in the sixth inning.

Voz picked up the win after going the complete outing, striking out six and walking three, while giving up seven hits.

Johnson kept Pequot Lakes’ bats in check in the opening game, while DL tagged three in the third frame, thanks to hits by Trey Lyngaas, Cihak and Voz.

Jackson Lyngaas picked up an RBI in the fourth inning to score his brother, Trey, who walked.

The Lakers will be in East Grand Forks Thursday for a doubleheader.
