DL teen in court for throwing pumpkin off roof, which hit, damaged vehicle
A Detroit Lakes teenager made his first appearance last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of first-degree criminal property damage-value reduced over $1,000.
Brandon Jay Boyd, 18, of 202 Minnesota Ave., Detroit Lakes, is accused of throwing a pumpkin off the roof of Holy Rosary School in Detroit Lakes on Nov. 2, striking a vehicle on the road below.
He and two other young men, who had all been reportedly throwing pumpkins from the roof, were seen leaving the scene and apprehended. The other two suspects reportedly identified Boyd as the one who had thrown the pumpkin at the vehicle, which sustained an estimated $1,444 in damages.
Boyd has been released on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance, at a Jan. 7 omnibus hearing.
