DL teenager pleads guilty to credit card fraud
A Detroit Lakes teenager pled guilty Monday in Becker County District Court to a felony charge of financial transaction card fraud.
Nathanial Richard Vanorny, 17, of 23288 220th St., Detroit Lakes, was charged in connection with an April 2010 incident in which he allegedly used credit cards taken from a customer at Menards in Detroit Lakes to purchase nearly $2,500 in goods and services.
Vanorny, who was a cashier at Menards at the time of the incident, allegedly hid the wallet and checkbook of a customer who had left them there after purchasing goods from the store, then later used the cards to rack up $2,483 in purchases at various businesses.
A disposition hearing for Vanorny on the charge is set for Aug. 10.
