The Lakers will advance to the State ASA U-14 Class D playoffs as an at-large bid, with the tournament being played in Buffalo July 27-28.

DL won its first two games against Moorhead 14-6 and Hawley 9-1, before falling to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in the title game 5-2.

DL will enter the state playoffs with a 12-3 record and wait for the state pairings.

A six-error game in the championship tilt doomed the Lakers to a 5-2 loss to DGF, which all five runs were unearned.

Kyra Vagle pitched the final three innings, while Emma Maguire started.

Madi Ramsey went 3-4 in the loss, while Emily Schiltz and Sydney Prussia each had two.

In the Lakers’ 14-6 rout over Moorhead, a 10-run first inning set the pace, as Maguire picked up the win with three strikeouts and no runs given up.

Vagle cleaned up the final two innings, while going 3-4 with an RBI at the plate.

Macy Kirchner went 2-3 with a double and triple, along with three RBIs, while Dani Unruh was 2-3 with three RBIs and Betty Schouviller was 2-3.

Stellar defense and timely hits propelled DL to a 9-1 win over Hawley, as Maguire picked up her 11th win of the season by striking out six Nugget batters.

Vagle was 3-4 with a homerun and three RBIs.

Those collecting two hits included Kirchner, Schiltz and Maguire.

The Lakers are coached by Phil Kirchner, with assistants being Tom Vagle and Kacey Franklin.
