DL woman convicted, sentenced for check forgery
A Detroit Lakes woman was convicted and sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of check forgery.
Stacy Rae Riddle, 43, of 525 Washington Ave., Apt. 5, was sentenced to a year in prison, stayed on conditions including 90 days in jail, up to five years of supervised probation and community service in lieu of a $50 court fee. She must also pay $112 in restitution.
Riddle was accused of forging two checks, one for $30 and the other for $40, on another person’s account and attempting to cash them at a local convenience store on Aug. 25, 2012.
The bank later contacted the store because the checks appeared to have been forged. Riddle was identified as one of two people who attempted to pass the checks late that evening via a surveillance video from the store.
