DL woman faces drug charges
A Detroit Lakes woman made her first appearance Monday in Becker County District Court on two felony counts of fifth degree possession of a controlled substance.
Brandee Lynn Haas, 27, of 40498 Lyman Lakes Road, Detroit Lakes, is also facing a related gross misdemeanor charge of giving a false name to an officer and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
According to the criminal complaint, Haas was arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 59 north of Detroit Lakes, at approximately 4:42 p.m. on Nov. 22.
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper initiated the stop after her vehicle was observed being driven erratically, and a subsequent check on the license plate showed that the registered driver had a suspended license.
During the traffic stop, Haas presented a driver’s license that indicated her name was “Patricia Lee Collins,” which was subsequently determined to be false.
After consenting to field sobriety tests, which allegedly showed “multiple signs of impairment,” according to the report, Haas was arrested, and an inventory search of her vehicle yielded multiple pill bottles, a spoon, needles and about seven small baggies.
One of the bottles and a baggie both had pills inside that were identified visually as containing Clonazepam and a mixture of Acetaminophen/Oxycodone.
Haas has been released on $5,000 bond pending her next court appearance, at a Rule 8 hearing set for Monday, Dec. 2.
