There were winners chosen in two categories, youth and adult, and each winner received an Amazon Kindle eReader.

The youth category winner was Abi Skinner from Detroit Lakes with her photo entry, "Have You 'Red' It."

Abi Skinner, 13, is in eighth grade at Detroit Lakes Middle School. She said her interest in photography began a few years ago when she started using Instagram (an iPod app).

"I followed a few photographers and was immediately inspired by their work," she said. "I began doing photoshoots of my own using a Sony Cybershot DSC-H3. I would set the camera on a timer then quickly pose, hoping that I was actually in the frame."

She would then edit the pictures to make herself float, have a twin or even have a different pose in a mirror she was looking in. Along with her photoshoots, she also takes photos of nature with her macro setting on the camera. Those pictures seem to turn out more precise and detailed, she said.

"As I grow older, I would like to continue on with photography and learn more skills and tricks."

Other than her photography hobby, Abi also enjoys cross-country running, dance and reading.
